Meet The Instructor
Manu Balakrishnan
I grew up in Singapore, and moved to the UK to study neuroscience at University College London, where I completed both my undergraduate and Master’s degrees. I am currently a second-year neuroscience PhD student funded by the Medical Research Council. My research focuses on understanding the neural basis of naturalistic behaviours in animals, particularly vision and spatial navigation. I am particularly interested in how animals perceive and interact with complex real-world environments, and the neural computations that support these complex behaviours . At my lab, we use a combination of behavioural assays, as well as gathering live neural recordings from freely-moving animals to develop insight into brain functions.Outside of research, I enjoy running and spending time with my cat, Indi.
