Meet the Instructors

Daniel Shaw

Daniel Shaw BSc (Hons), MSc, CDBC is an experienced animal behaviourist with extensive experiencing supporting dogs and cats with behavioural difficulties. As the owner of Animal Behaviour Kent (ABK), Daniel works with dogs and cats facing serious behavioural challenges, provides expert witness assessments for legal cases under the Dangerous Dogs Act, and has contributed to Parliamentary discussions on dog bite reform. With a master’s degree in neuroscience and background in psychology, Daniel bridges the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world applications, offering science-backed training programmes that help both pets and their owners. His work has been featured on BBC Southeast Today, TalkTV, and LBC News, and he regularly teaches internationally on aggression, frustration, and trauma in dogs. Daniel is the founder of the Brain and Behaviour Academy, a platform offering accessible, science-based education in animal behaviour, training, and neuroscience.

Andrew Hale

Andrew is a Certified Animal Behaviourist with Association of INTODogs whilst also being the Chair of INTODogs. He is the behaviour consultant for Pet Remedy and the British Isles Grooming Association. Andrew has played a leading role in the UK Dog training and behaviour community, having been the and the driving force behind the UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter. Andrew is the owner of Train Positive Dog Behaviour and Training and runs a Facebook Comminity Group Dog Centred Care. He also works to support many dog rescue organisations around the UK. With a degree and background in human psychology, Andrew is passionate about exploring the emotional experience that lies behind behaviour, both in dogs and the humans around them.

Danielle Beck

Danielle Beck MSc is a UK-based Clinical Animal Behaviourist, mentor, and founder of Control The Meerkat. She specialises in complex behaviour cases involving fear, trauma, aggression, emotional regulation, and assistance dog training, with a particular interest in the neuroscience behind why dogs do what they do. Known for her “Meerkat” analogy, Danielle helps caregivers and professionals better understand the moment a dog becomes overwhelmed and survival responses take over. Her work focuses on making neuroscience accessible, practical, and compassionate. Alongside her clinical behaviour work and support for assistance dog teams, Danielle mentors animal professionals internationally and lectures on trauma-informed practice, arousal regulation, behavioural rehabilitation, and pattern games. She is a full member and director of the APBC, a faculty member with PACT, and a certified Control Unleashed Instructor. As an assistance dog handler herself, Danielle is passionate about creating psychologically safer, more inclusive spaces within the animal behaviour world, helping both humans and dogs feel less overwhelmed and less alone in the process.
